A very common question, and a physiological inevitability.  The ability to focus at near occurs when the lens in our eyes changes with contraction and relaxation of ciliary muscles.  As we age the ciliary muscles in our eyes, which support the accommodative process, starts to loose some flexibility.  This loss in flexibility and accommodation  is commonly referred to as presbyopia.  And yes presbyopia can be corrected with monovision LASIK, where one eye is corrected for reading and the other for distance.  To learn more about monovison check the links, and or schedule an appointment to see one of our doctors at Global Vision to discuss the best option for your visual needs.
